Darla (2002)

The Spirit's Notes: It is the glimmer in her eye which makes Darla an excellent model. I have done many pieces of art of her. Here she is making near-direct eye contact with you, perhaps looking behind you, the viewer. Her sultry eyes and the curl of her ripe red lips show an alluring expression of submissive anticipation which mysteriously draws you in. Can a portrait be sensual? Depends on the model and the artist's rendering of an expression I suppose. Unlike the other artworks shown here, this one was created using colored pencils and graphite on illustration board. There is no inking involved here.
